Helldivers 2‘s latest warbond is set to deliver two new exosuit stratagems, bringing a bit more variety to the robotic getups you can summon to help fight Super Earth’s enemy of the week. One’s the Helldivers 2 debut of a mech from the first game, while the other’s got a big shield. Unsurprisingly, the gear pack they’re part of is dubbed Exo Experts, and it’s set to arrive next week.
The EXO-51 Lumberer and the EXO-55 Breakthrough might, at least as far as I can recall off the top of my head, be the first mech stratagems to pop up in a warbond, with their two predecessors both having been rewards for galactic war successes. If the Lumberer sounds familiar, that’s because it’s a “modern reinvention” of an exosuit of the same name from the first Helldivers, with both brandishing a flamethrower and an anti-tank cannon.
The Breakthrough, meanwhile, teams a flak cannon with a big shield that’ll likely make it more useful in fighting to gain ground or hunkering down to defend an objective. Naturally, both of the armour sets in Exo Experts are designed to resemble mech pilot getup, the lighter O-3 Free Spirit wouldn’t look out of place at a Top Gun cosplay convention, while the O-2 Heavy Operator set’s a bit more in the industrial hazmat suit vein. Both come with the Oxygenator perk, which rather disappointingly just lets you move about a bit faster.
As for guns, the warbond’s got the MGX-42 Bullet Storm, the SMG-203 Gallant, and the P-33 Missile Pistol. The former’s a machine gun whose multiple ammo barrels you lob away as soon as they’re empty, the Gallant seems a fairly plain SMG, and the missile pistol takes its name from a target lock system similar to those you usually get from explosive launchers.
Exo Experts is set to arrive on April 28th, and as with all Helldivers 2 warbonds, it’ll be purchasable with super credits you can either earn through playing or spunk real money on. It looks to have been a little while since the game’s galactic war took any fresh twists, following the erecting of some funky purple towers last month, so there may well be one due if you’re looking for reasons to try out these new robo-suits.
