Who’d have thought – Amazon Resale is the place to get an Nvidia GPU for a somewhat reasonable price

Amazon Resale (formerly the Amazon Warehouse) can occasionally throw up a decent deal on computing hardware, just as long as you don’t mind a damaged box or perhaps a missing manual. In this instance, it’s allowing for this MSI RTX 5070 Ventus 3X graphics card to drop down to below its MSRP – an actual discount down to £449 for a ‘Used – Like New’ card – something that seems very rare, given the current RAM crisis and such.

James might not have been too impressed by the RTX 5070 in his review, arguing that the card was more or less an RTX 4070 Super with the added powers of Nvidia’s DLSS 4 upscaler for 2025. Performance is largely similar between the two cards at 1440p and 4K, although the RTX 5070 nonetheless supplements strong mid-range performance with Nvidia’s multi-frame-gen tech and the new DLSS Transformer model for better resolution of fine detail.

At the end of the month, you’ll also have access to the updated DLSS 4.5 featureset, adding even more multi-frame-gen powers if you want them. This includes a new 6x multiplier and, more integrally, a ‘dynamic’ mode that automatically adjusts the multiplier depending on the target FPS you set.

I saw this ‘dynamic’ mode in action at a recent Nvidia event, and while moving around a demo map, it caused the multiplier to change from everything from 2x up to 4x; the changeover didn’t seem jarring as it went up and down depending on the environment. How this will work out in real-world testing remains to be seen, though. To take advantage of all of the new features, you’ll need an RTX 50-series GPU, and the 5070 seems like a good upgrade target if you’re on older hardware.

Plus, you may well get access to DLSS 5 at the end of the year – great – I’m so excited not to use it.

This MSI card is ideal for smaller builds, with a 2.5-slot design, and comes with a beefy triple-fan cooler to boot. It is also a factory overclocked variant to potentially eke out some more performance, and comes with three DP 2.1b and a single HDMI 2.1b connection on the rear for hooking up to an external display.

It may have been a bit of a disappointing upgrade over the old RTX 4070 Super, but the RTX 5070 in the big 2026 remains a capable card for mid-range 1440p gaming with all the powers of DLSS 4 (and subsequently DLSS 4.5). For under MSRP, this is quite good – if you’d prefer a new card, though, this Asus Dual card is £498 from CCL, and comes with Resident Evil Requiem for free.
