Existing PC vampires of Seattle, you should now have access to the expanded wardrobe Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 devs Paradox and The Chinese Room have rolled out for Halloween. The free update’s fresh hairstyles, makeup styles, and eye colours were only on offer to folks who started fresh saves initially, something that it turns out wasn’t intentional.
“We apologise to our players that the new cosmetics in our Halloween Update only applied to new save files,” reads an update from Paradox posted to Steam and Discord. “We have now fixed this, and you’re free to see and apply all the new cosmetics in your current playthrough. This hotfix is now live for PC players. We will update our console version as soon as it passes all checks. Thank you.”
The free Halloween update, deployed earlier this week, expands the base game’s customisation options with 24 fresh ways to spice up your look. Eight new hairdos, eight new makeup styles (including the one below which makes you look like a superhero who’s gotten really into My Chemical Romance), and eight new eye colours. You can also make your eyes bleed. It looks cool, but given a vampire’s diet is also a bit like a regular person gluing sandwiches just below their eyebrows.
Outside of unlocking these cosmetics for all characters, the hotfix Paradox have delivered includes fixes for issues like save games incorrectly bypassing Steam’s Cloud Sync via a quirk of running with admin privileges and some missing collision which could see you plummet out of the world.
In their initial post upon releasing these Halloween cosmetics, the publisher confirmed they and developers The Chinese Room are looking into adding more appearance customisation options in future update. An FOV slider, “new save game options”, and custom difficulty settings that’ll include letting you only play Phyre’s side of the story during your second playthrough are also on the to-do list.
