Smooth Stone is a type of building block in Minecraft, often sought after by players for a unique modern look while building. Smooth Stone was a part of earlier versions of Minecraft, but only recent versions have included it as a base building material. However, Smooth Stone is not readily available and has to be crafted through two smelting processes by players.
How to Craft a Smooth Stone in Minecraft?
In order to make Smooth Stone in Minecraft, you first have to turn Regular Stone into Cobblestone. Cobblestone then must be further smelted twice in order to become Smooth Stone. The process is lengthy but not difficult for most players since all the materials required are easily procurable.
Start by mining Regular Stone by approaching a Block of Stone. You’ll find this in many biomes, or even underground. Now, use a pickaxe or any other tool to mine the Block Stone. A Cobblestone will drop for you to pick up before it disappears.
Now, build a furnace with eight Cobblestones. Do this by adding eight Cobblestone blocks to the Crafting Table, leaving the middle space empty. Once the furnace is done, add one Cobblestone to the first slot, and any flammable material like Sticks or Charcoal to the second slot. You will now get a Regular Stone Stack from the furnace.
For the second smelting process, add one Regular Stone Stack to the first slot of the Furnace. Add Sticks or Charcoal to the second slot. This should give you a Smooth Stone. Repeat this until you have enough Smooth Stones for your building or decorating purposes.
In Minecraft 1.14, you can also craft a Smooth Stone by using a Stonecutter. You’ll have to first craft the Stonecutter and then use the Smooth Stone Slab recipe. This method can yield a higher number of Stones in one go.
Smooth Stones don’t serve a purpose different from Regular Stone and Cobblestone, but they make a big difference for building aesthetics in Minecraft. Smooth Stones are also commonly used for Blast Furnaces since these can smelt ores and armor much faster.
