Weapon Enchantments in Minecraft give players the ability to boost their weaponry to gain an advantage over the many enemies in-game, but what are the best ones?
Minecraft is mainly a game based on crafting and building structures either in free game or survival, with weapons being a vital part of the survival aspect of the game.
Here’s everything you need to know about the best weapon enchantments that are available in Minecraft.
There are a number of different types of weapons in Minecraft, and these can be equipped with enchantments to boost damage.
Sword & Axe
- Sharpness – This enchantment increases damage
- Knockback – Will knock back enemies on hit
- Sweeping Edge (sword only) – This means that your attacks will hit enemies in a wider area in front of the player character
- Smite – This enchantment deals extra damage to undead enemies such as Skeletons and Zombies. This can also be stacked with Sharpness
- Fire Aspect – This will set the target on fire for between three and seven additional damage
- Unbreaking – Will give the item more durability
Trident
- Loyalty – Ensures that the Trident returns to the user once thrown
- Channeling – This will make the Trident cause a lightning strike if a thunderstorm is happening in-game
- Impaling – This enchantment increases damage
- Unbreaking – Will give the item more durability
- Riptide
Bow & Crossbow
- Infinity – This enchantment gives you unlimited arrows
- Power – Will increase the damage of arrow attacks
- Punch – This gives arrows a knock back effect
- Flame – Will turn arrows into fire arrows, which set enemies on fire
- Unbreaking – Will give the item more durability
- Multishot (crossbow only) – Means that the crossbow can fire multiple arrows at once in a spread formation
Critical Hits
Another aspect of dealing more damage in Minecraft is the Critical Hit. Landing a Critical Hit can mean that a weapon does bonus damage on top of the bonuses from the enchantment.
Melee weapons can only issue a Critical Hit when the player character is falling, increasing damage by 150%.
Ranged weapons can issue a Critical Hit that goes up to 190%, but this occurs on a random chance. It’s fair to say that Ranged combat is better in terms of getting Critical Hits on enemies, as it does not require the player to get into a specific position on the battlefield.
