Minecraft: How to Make Smooth Stone – The Nerd Stash

Smooth Stone is a building block in Minecraft that can be used for decorative purposes or craft a Blast Furnace. A Blast Furnace is a workbench that can smelt ores and raw metals twice as fast as a standard Furnace. Similar to the Smoker in Minecraft, the Blast Furnace can only refine the specific resources it’s intended for, meaning players can’t cook food within it. To craft a Blast Furnace, players will need to acquire three blocks of Smooth Stone. Smooth Stone is a material that is very easy to produce early on in the game. Read on to learn how to make Smooth Stone in Minecraft.

How to Make Smooth Stone in Minecraft

Minecraft Smooth Stone Crafting

To make Smooth Stone in Minecraft, players will first need to obtain raw stone blocks, specifically Cobblestone. Cobblestone is one of the most common blocks found in the overworld and within mines and caves. After collecting enough Cobblestone, players can craft a Furnace, which will then be used to smelt Smooth Stone.

Using a pickaxe, collect eight blocks of Cobblestone to craft a Furnace. Gather more Cobblestone to smelt the blocks into Smooth Stone. One stone block will produce one Smooth Stone. Players can use either wood or coal for the Furnace’s fuel; however, coal is the more efficient of the two. Coal in Minecraft can be found in mines and caves where Cobblestone is prevalent.

As mentioned above, Smooth Stone can be used to make a Blast Furnace. Here is a list of items needed to craft the Blast Furnace.

  • Iron Ingot x5
  • Furnace x1
  • Smooth Stone x3

Players can also use Smooth Stone to make Smooth Stone slabs, blocks that can function as walkways, stairs, or other decorations.

Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
