Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
Today’s Picks
James: Juan Soto – “While Soto didn’t leave the yard for me yesterday, I am sticking with the hottest hitter in baseball. Over Soto’s last ten games he is 15-for-31 with four homers – this equates to a .484 average and .968 slugging. While Tyler Mahole is a strong arm, he has still allowed 24 homers on the year and one in four of his last five starts.”
Zach: Vladimir Guerrero Jr – “Jax is one of the softest pitchers in baseball, and the Jays get the opportunity to tee off him tonight. Vladdy’s been in a rut for a few games, but his swing looks great and this is the exact kind of matchup that can put him right back on track. Even in a “rut”, he has a 169 wRC+ and 62.5% hard hit rate in his last 2 weeks of action, and absolutely demolishes RHP (174 wRC+ and 1.039 OPS in the split this year).”
Jared: Teoscar Hernandez – “Griffin Jax continues to be one of the easiest pitchers in baseball to pick on from an opposing HR perspective. In his last 5 starts (not lasting 5 IP/GS on average), he has a 92.8 mph exit velocity with 12 barrels (highest barrel rate in that time) and 7 HRs allowed. LHB and RHB both have .370 wOBA marks against him on the year, but a 2.93 HR/9 for RHBs tells a bit of a richer story as to whose had more success against him. Enter Teoscar, who has a 180 wRC+, .354 ISO and 92.4 mph EV average in his last 13 games. He looks great at the plate right now, went deep last night, and should continue to keep the good times rolling here once again.”
