Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
Today’s Picks
James: Bobby Dalbec – “This isn’t a prestigious name here today, but it is certainly a guy that is crushing the ball right now for Boston. In his last 5 games (20 PA), he has a 36.4% barrel rate, 23.9 degree launch angle and 100.3 mph exit velocity. Not too shabby whatsoever. Especially against lefty Alex Wells, bringing the split that he’s far stronger in than against a right-handed pitcher. This year, Dalbec’s 134 wRC+ and .892 OPS vs LHP are very solid, compared to just a 97 wRC+ and .749 OPS in the split vs RHP. Let’s hope he’s able to keep the strong contact skills up and go yard this afternoon as the Red Sox continue their postseason chase.”
Zach: Xander Bogaerts – “Bogaerts had a great week for the Red Sox last week. Bogaerts had hits in each of his five games including four extra-base hits with two home runs. I like him to start this week off on the same hot streak he was on last week as he gets an excellent match-up against Alexander Wells. Wells has allowed four home runs in his past two starts and for the season has an HR/9 rate of 2.36. Wells has especially struggled with right-handed hitters this season allowing them to slash .369/.432/.679 with a .462 wOBA.”
Jared: Vladimir Guerrero Jr – “It is really hard for me to not pick Vladdy Jr when he’s a) facing a RHP and b) hitting the ball as well as he is right now. Toronto’s franchise player has an insane 35% barrel rate in his last week of action and an equally bonkers .550 ISO as well. His 99.5 mph EV leads the team in that time, and his 235 wRC+ tells a pretty rich story, too. Against a young RHP and what should be mostly a bullpen game for the Twins thereafter, he should easily pace Toronto’s offense and do some serious damage this afternoon.”
