Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
Today’s Picks
James: Adam Duvall – “Andrew Heaney has allowed 25 homers on the year and one in at least five straight games and ten over that stretch of five games. Righties are doing the most damage here with 21 of the 25 homers and he faces a Braves team that has a lot of raw power from the right-hand side of the plate. Duvall isn’t the best when it comes to average, but he is second on the Braves in Barrel% and HardHit%. I love the prospects of Duvall, Soler, and Riley on this slate as they all have a good power grade, but I like targeting Duvall when it comes to trying to call a home run.”
Zach: Shohei Ohtani – “There is a little over a month left in the MLB regular season and I am in a huge hole right now. I truly need to go on a hot streak to catch back up. What better way to start my hot streak than by picking the home run leader facing a young bad pitcher. I don’t think there is a better way especially when you factor in that Spenser Watkins has an HR/9 rate over 1.80 at the Triple-A level and has allowed three home runs in his past three starts. It also kind of feels like Ohtani is due tonight as he has not gone deep in four games which seems like forever for the history-making sensation.”
Jared: Jorge Soler – “Andrew Heaney is a capable MLB pitcher, and is at his best when he has the strikeouts going for him. However, he’s on the road tonight and takes on a club that has some strong power threats against LHPs. Case in point being Soler, who has a team-best .306 ISO against LHP in 2021. He also leads the team in HRs in the split this year with 11, and is rocking a 133 wRC+ against lefty arms. Although these are season long numbers and still fairly encouraging, here’s what really drives me to Soler today. In his last 54 PA against LHP, he has 8 HR, a .565 ISO, .826 SLG and 204 wRC+ (.480 wOBA). So to say he’s hot as heck against lefties of late is a total understatement. He’s been out of his mind in the split, and against a FB pitcher who has coughed up 10 HR in his last month of work, I’m all in.”
