The latest update to Fortnite, v17.40, has brought several changes to the Epic Games battle royale.

As the alien invasion storyline of Season 7 moves towards its conclusion,new POIs, tasks and challenges as well as unique skins and cosmetics have been added to the game’s item shop.

Several more collaborations – which Fortnite has become popular for in recent times – are also being teased. Wild Weeks which were part of Season 6 have also returned in this latest update of Season 7.

Update v17.40 took place on Tuesday, August 17. Here’s all you need to know about what’s new in Fortnite.

What is the Fortnite Impostors Mode?

Fortnite Impostors is the latest LTM which was introduced in update v17.40. Inspired by popular deduction game Among Us, the game sees players take on the role of Agents or Impostors and complete a range of Assignments. The game is won when either Agents discover who the Impostors are or when Impostors achieve their goal of eliminating all the Agents.

Additionally, the in-game files include locations and names of various rooms like Cafeteria, Office, Electrical, etc, that point towards being inspired by Among Us.

What will happen to Coral Castle?

Much like Slurpy Swamp, players can expect that Coral Castle will be taken over by aliens. The landmark has been marked for destruction for some time, and the Mothership has arrived to execute the task with this update.

The abduction of Coral Castle will take place in three stages and completed over a week. Once this activity has been completed, the Mothership will move to its final target, Corny Complex.

What are the new skins in the v17.40 update?

The update has seen the addition of a few new skins and other costemics in the in-game item shop. The popular Galaxy Scout skin has been given a new appearance, while a Vox Hunter outfit and another one known as Cade have been added to the game.

Some skins relevant to the Impostors mode including the Agent Jonesy default skinhave also been introduced.All these cosmetics should be in the item shop now.

What are Wild Weeks?

Following a similar event in Fortnite Season 6, the latest update sees the return of Wild Weeks to Fortnite.

Wild Weeks are four weeks of challenges for players to attend. Starting last Thursday, the first Wild Week began with Sneak Week which saw all Epic+ Pistol, Epic+ Assault Rifle, and all Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles replaced with stealth alternatives such as Suppressed Pistols, Suppressed Assault Rifles, and Suppressed Sniper Rifles.

To avoid being seen as well as heard, the Aliens are countering this by deploying more Prop-ifiers across the Island.

Sneak Week came in with an addition Legendary Quest chain related to the week’s theme, in which players could earn extra XP. Each Thursday until the end of the invasion, a new Wild Week and an accompanying Legendary Quest chain will debut on Fortnite.
