Daily MLB DFS Stacking Strategies for FanDuel & DraftKings – August 8, 2021 (8/08/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Digging into today’s MLB DFS slate to highlight your best bats to stack.

This article will cover two to three teams that we think are the most stackable for MLB contests. If you are newer to DFS or MLB or want a general refresher on the impact of stacking in MLB, check out our research done this off-season, where we analyzed over 2,000,000 lineups to determine how many times a team of four or five hitters stacked from the same team won contests. In brief, 80.3% of winning lineups across 71 Main Slate tournaments (from 2020) had a stack of at least four players. 71.9% of that 80.3% had a stack of five players. Stacking is the main strategy to focus on when it comes to MLB. Therefore we will be approaching our hitter’s content from a stacking perspective.

Braves (vs. Nationals)

We have a 10 game slate this Sunday afternoon on both Draftkings and Fanduel, with plenty of options to choose from. I have some great news for you, Patrick Corbin is pitching today! Over his last 3 starts, Corbin has allowed 19 hits, 12 earned runs, and 7 home runs across 17.1 innings pitched with a 5.74 ERA. Corbin’s advanced stats don’t help his case much; he ranks in the bottom 13th percentile of the league in K%, 32nd percentile in whiff%, 37th percentile in hardhit%, and 36th percentile in exit velocity. Right-handed batters have given Corbin the most trouble; on the year, Corbin has allowed 25 home runs, with only 2 of those coming against lefties. Corbin’s 1.94 HR/9, 31.7% FB rate, and 21.4% HR/FB rate present a juicy matchup for the Braves, and I’ll be looking to use them as both primary and secondary stacks.

Braves vs. Patrick Corbin

High Freddie Freeman (5.4k / 1.31) (3.7k / 1.71)
Medium Ozzie Albies (4.9k / 11.84) (3.3k / 15.43) Austin Riley (5.1k / 12.41) (3.5k / 16.18) Dansby Swanson (4.6k / 11.26) (3.2k / 14.68) Jorge Soler (3.4k / 9.67) (3.3k / 12.61)
Adam Duvall (4k / 9.35) (3.2k / 12.19)
Low Patrick Corbin (7k / 8.76) (7.2k / 15.61) Kevan Smith (2.1k / 3.58) (2.1k / 4.66) Guillermo Heredia (2.2k / 0.41) (2.1k / 0.53)

Rays (@ Orioles)

The Rays are on the road in a matchup vs. Jorge Lopez. For July ( 6 starts ), Lopez allowed 33 hits, 16 earned runs, and 2 HR’s over 20 innings pitched with a 7.20 ERA. Lopez ranks in the bottom 25th percentile of the league in K%,  27th percentile in BB%,  33rd percentile in barrel%,  13th percentile in whiff%, and 25th percentile in exit velocity. Lopez has a 29.2% FB rate, 17.4% HR/FB, and 1.41 HR/9 on the year. The Rays have the second-highest team total on the slate at 5.92; this will inevitably lead to inflated ownership for each player and stacks. With that in mind, I’ll be looking to pair Rays stacks with less popular pieces in my tournament lineups.
