CLG picked up a big upset against TSM on Friday and now get a soft matchup on paper against FlyQuest, though that matchup comes with some pretty expensive pricing. Oh yeah, FlyQuest also pulled a massive upset over Cloud9 in what was one of the best matches to watch all season. But wait, there’s more – Golden Guardians also upset 100Thieves. As mentioned with the LEC in my LEC article, we are reaching a tough point of the split because I feel we have established the top four and bottom four teams in each league. Are we going to get upsets like CLG at +240 over TSM? Of course we are, but in a one-game series, how do we actually measure the meaning of the victory? The team I prefer to build around on this slate is 100 Thieves, as their matchup with Evil Genuises has dropped their price slightly. 100T is priced fourth in some spots and doesn’t carry the most expensive spot at any position. As I do mention frequently, 100T has three starters in the top eight of the LCS for total KDA with FBI, Ssumday, and Abbedagge in the top 10 for Gold per minute. A knock on 100T is their lower farming of CS, though this often happens through engages as 100T plays a quicker more aggressive pace than some other teams in the LCS. The 100T strategy isn’t to just farm and scale, it is to engage and get your gold that way. This is a blessing and curse as in losses it can lead to some big disadvantages early. Evil Geniuses have been way better recently, but Impact is still averaging 3.53 deaths per game, Svenskeren 3.07, and Jiizuke 2.87. These are higher death totals in comparison to the rest of the league, but mostly because EG likes to play aggressively as well. These two teams met back in week two, with 100T winning 13-2 in a game that wasn’t really super representative of each style of play. Due to 100T usually being the most expensive on the slate, I am fine taking the savings here and making them my high upside four-stack. As an extra note, CLG is pretty expensive here mostly because of their matchup with FlyQuest. FlyQuest played amazing on Friday in their win over Cloud9 and the “Academy” roster does appear to be performing better than their former one. The price on FlyQuest is pretty low for being just a +160 underdog. I think both sides are in play here as we can’t accurately predict how two sloppy teams will come out in just a one-game series – but both are carrying a lot of confidence after their wins on Friday.
