Core Plays

Kyle Busch – DK: $10,100 | FD: 12,500 – Starting 40th / Chase Elliot – DK: $10,600 | FD: $14,500 – Starting 34th

The Cup Series lands in Wisconsin at Road America for the Jockey Made In America 250 presented by Kwik Trip. This is the first time since 1956 that the Cup Series races here in Elkhart Lake, while the Xfinity Series has run recent races here. This is a 14-turn, 4.048-mile track that will feature 62 laps, so we won’t have a ton of fast laps and laps led points to grab here, though it goes without saying the driver who does grab them will have an inside track to being optimal. But this week differential will play the biggest role in our scoring, as well as Road Course experience since most drivers don’t have any here at this track. This is also the longest track distance in Nascar right now. I have Busch and Elliot as my two core plays here as they are both starting so far back in the field that the differential they can make up from just finishing top ten, should be enough to make them must-haves in your lineups. Busch won the Xfinity race here yesterday and while he is going to a backup car, his equipment should not be an issue here. Chase Elliot starting 34th will likely be an even more popular play, as Elliot is regarded as the best road course driver in Nascar, with seven first or second-place finishes over his last eight road races.

Chase Briscoe – DK: $6,700 | FD: $6,400 – Starting 35th

No revolutionary advice here, just a cheap driver who has always performed well on road courses starting way in the back to grab us differential points. Briscoe has actually run this race at the Xfinity level twice, finishing seventh in 2019 and third in 2020 which gives him a small edge of at least a little bit of experience over some Cup guys who have actually never raced Road America. We don’t have a ton of Briscoe data at the Cup level, but he did manage a sixth-place finish at COTA and a 17th at Sonoma. As mentioned, with any smaller lap, long-mile race, we are just going to want to focus differential points and with Busch and Elliot lining up to be chalky (and likely optimal if we don’t have mechanical issues or accidents involving either), Briscoe is another cheap high upside guy. Cody Ware at $4,600 might be the ultimate punt on this slate to roster the top – Ware is a better than average road racer who
