Law360 (March 31, 2021, 10:33 PM EDT) — The mother of a boy who spent over $1,000 without her permission in the Fortnite video game on Sony’s PlayStation Network must arbitrate her claims that Sony entices children to make in-game purchases behind their parents’ backs and refuses to refund them, a California federal judge ruled Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge James Donato said there is evidence that Brandi Crawford, who filed suit in March 2020, agreed to arbitration as a condition of operating the console and accessing Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC’s PlayStation Network.
