I don’t feel like this has happened in a little while, but it does seem to happen from time to time. I noticed this shortly after I finished the match where I found, theoretically, my fifth book to round out the first challenge form Ragnarok, but found it stuck at 2 when I left the match. Apparently this is a known progression bug, and Epic is working on it:
It’s a little disappointing, because I was interested in where Ragnarok was going with this whole Chuggus business, and I want to see how it ends. Plus, I always just sort of like the challenges where I have to go and collect things, allowing me to fill a very basic sort of dopamine urge without worrying about getting shotgunned, or at least not worrying too much.
It’s possible that we’ll get these things auto-completed, which happens frequently with bugged challenges. Given that it seems to be affecting so many challenges at once, this seems a little less likely: it would mean Epic essentially handing out a full week’s worth of XP, which would theoretically start to cut into what I’m assuming is a lucrative business selling battle pass tiers.
So keep an eye on this. It’s already gone on a little bit longer than I thought it would, but I suppose it’s not entirely surprising given the major changes to the way the game handles quests this season: it’s always possible that something is going to break when you move it around like this.
