Now in the middle of its second free-to-play season, hit cars-meet-soccer title Rocket League has been flourishing with its new format. With a plethora of new collaborations, in-game events, and a robust battle pass to grind with, fresh content keeps arriving at the eSports-oriented title.
Rocket League is no stranger to unique game modes like the Snow Day placing players on ice while turning the game’s ball into a hockey puck; and Hoops mode which lets players aiming to shoot a basketball. Aside from these basic modes, the game also has its fair share of rotating time-limited modes, and it appears like a fan-favorite mode is making a short return.

Although Rocket League’s yearly Frosty Fest has concluded, the game’s official Twitter account revealed yesterday that they will be bringing back the Heatseeker mode for a short period of time. The game mode will be taking over another time-limited mode, Spike Rush.
The Heatseeker game mode is now live and will be available until January 4 for all players worldwide. First released back in April 2020 before the game became free-to-play, Heatseeker has the ball gain speed anytime it comes in contact with a player or the backboard, and it will home in on the enemy’s goal once it has been hit.
If the ball misses the goal but hits a backboard, it will quickly fire back toward the original team’s goal. The last time players saw the aforementioned game mode was last June 17 for a single day, but it seems developer Pysonix will allow players a bit more time with the mode this time around.

While some fans have expressed frustration in the Spike Rush game mode being removed, others have shown excitement with the return of Heatseeker, and it is currently unrevealed which game mode will replace it after January 4.
As fans continue to have fun with the game’s newest music-themed season, it will be exciting to see what the developers have in store for Rocket League in the coming days.
