The Xbox Series X and Series S versions do hit that refresh rate in performance mode, but the PS5 doesn’t.
A few days ago it was confirmed that Rocket League will have a new generation version on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. Psyonix, the studio responsible for the game, indicated the characteristics of its popular multiplayer proposal, indicating differences between the Sony console and those of Microsoft. The forums began to wonder, mainly, why PS5 could not take advantage of the performance mode with which to reach up to 120 FPS that it does have Xbox Series X and even Series S.
The study responsible for the game has come out to clarify the reason for this decision, in statements to the Push Square portal. Since Psyonix point out that the PS5 itself is the main responsible, since it does not prevent updating the game and thus increasing its refresh rate. Apparently activating 120 FPS on PS5 requires a full native port due to the implementation of backward compatibility on the console, while that process involves a minor patch on Xbox Series X and S.
