Fortnite Is (Still) The Biggest Game On Twitch | TheGamer – TheGamer

It seems as if anyone who has been using up all of this unexpected free time to watch streams on Twitch has been consuming plenty of Fortnite-based content.

There’s talk out there that Fortnite‘s popularity is dwindling. If that is the case, then someone should let Fortnite know. Its numbers are as strong, if not stronger than they have ever been in a lot of areas. More than 350 million people have registered to play the game in less than three years, and the first of its live in-game Travis Scott concerts had a record 27.7 million players log in to watch.

The numbers surrounding The Device earlier this week are also very promising. 12 players logged in to watch Midas summon a terrifying wall of water, and it would have been more than that had Epic not capped the capacity for stability issues. A further 8.4 million people watched the event live on YouTube and Twitch.

Speaking of Twitch, statistics collated by Golden Casino News just go to show that Fortnite is still the undisputed king of that platform too. More than 580,000 people streamed Fortnite content on Twitch in May 2020. That’s almost 200,000 more streamers than second-placed Call of Duty, whose popularity has been boosted by Warzone over the past few months. It’s also more than the combined streamer counts of League of Legends and Minecraft.

The number of people watching Fortnite on Twitch has also shot up since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. Fans of the game watched 53.8 million hours of Fortnite on Twitch in January 2020, and then 55.3 million hours the following month. That jumped to 66 million in March, 97 million in April, and had more than doubled by May 2020 as viewers watched a collective 122 million hours of Fortnite.

That’s Fortnite‘s best month on Twitch since January 2019, and seventh-best month in its history. Plus, if that trend continues as the pandemic goes on, those numbers may continue to grow. Chances are June will almost definitely yield an increase on May’s impressive figures since it will include The Device live event and the start of Season 3. Fortnite is the king of Twitch, and all other games are playing for second place.
