CALIFORNIA — Most sports are paused right now due to COVID-19, but not Esports.
Esports tournaments do not have to stop because of COVID-19. In fact, there’s at least one that’s sprung up because of the pandemic.
The Social Distancing Cup is going on now. You can sign up throughout April and it’s free. They are trying to make it easy to join so they can reach as many people as possible who are isolating themselves.
MORE GAMING STORIES:
There are three games you can compete in: League of Legends, Rocket League, and Teamfight Tactics.
The tournament has a $30,000 prize pool.
Organizer Mason Mullenioux is himself competing.
“It’s a good distraction. It gets your mind active competing. A lot of people can’t go out and do what they’re normally doing,” said Mullenioux.
The Social Distancing Cup ends May 10, 2020.
