Captain options
Decka ($19,800)
Decka has enjoyed a staggering season so far in the RLCS. He has mauled several teams already with his offensive class. That efficiency is bound to reduce as the season progresses, but for now take advantage. In 18 games in this Oceania RLCS, he is averaging 1.28 goals on 3.72 shots along with 0.94 assists. Stunning offensive numbers, by any standards.
KennySalmon ($15,900)
An interesting strategy to pick your Captains in Rocket League is to try and find a balance between offensive and defensive prowess among both. If Decka is a strong offensive choice, then KennySalmon will add value defensively, lending additional balance to your team. KennySalmon’s key performance indicator is his saves per game, which currently stands at a high 2.35. He is also taking 2.41 shots per game this season.
Express ($16,200)
At $16,200, Express is providing a lot more value than Spydoge ($17,100). Let’s compare the two players this season to analyze why Express is a better choice.
· Goals to shots ratio: Express is averaging 0.72 goals, with 2.89 shots. Spydoge has 0.53 goals and 2.59.
· Assists: Express is averaging over one assist per game (1.06), well over the average. Spydoge has 0.35 assists.
· Defensive ability: Express has managed 1.56 saves per game, while Spydoge has just 1 save.
· Player stacking: Pick multiple players from Ground Zero Gaming.
As seen above, a higher price doesn’t always translate into more points.
High-priced flex options
Requiem ($9,600)
In the ninth season of the RLCS, Requiem hasn’t quite helped his teammates much, with 0.21 assists in 17 games. However, he also has 0.89 goals on 2.68 shots along with a strong defensive game that has seen him put up nearly 1.5 saves. He has played for six teams so far. Of those six teams, Requiem’s stats for Mindfreak, his current team, are the best by a distance.
Frenzyy ($9,600)
Apart from goals per game, Frenzyy has provided plenty of value in each of the other key metrics. His defensive prowess is evidenced by an average of 2 saves a game. He has a low goal conversion rate, scoring just 0.50 goals on 2.28 shots. However, he also has 0.50 assists, which gives him quite a well-rounded goal participation rate.
Value flex options
Walcott ($8,400)
As the teams increase in a slate the variance between most and least expensive will start to increase as well. That means you will need at least one budget pick to afford some of the best. Walcott will be that player on this slate. His team has a 23% win rate this season, but he has been the bright light. He has 0.71 goals, 1.71 saves and 2.24 shots, but just 0.21 assists per game.
