Andy Miller was one of the first traditional sports owners to move into esports. The Sacramento Kings co-owner launched NRG Esports in 2015, long before esports franchising became a well-seasoned trend in the larger sports world.  

NRG Esports’ San Francisco Shock Overwatch team swept the Vancouver Titans in the 2019 Overwatch League Championship and won $1.1 million in prize money. The organization’s Rocket League team went undefeated last season. NRG Esports has also launched teams in Apex Legends, the new franchised Call of Duty League, Fortnite, and Smash Ultimate.
