With the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year happening this week, Psyonix’s Rocket League is gearing up to kick off the celebrations with the Lucky Lanterns event on January 20.
Offering a selection of exclusive in-game items, players can earn”Red Envelopes” by completing games online, which in turn can be redeemed for cosmetics items such as the Paper Dragon Topper, Fortune Wheels, or even used to unlock Golden Lanterns.

These Golden Lanterns will contain items from Rocket League‘s Champions Series 1, 2, and 3 crates, which are no longer available following the game’s transition into the Blueprint system. The in-game item shop will also have other uniquely themed items for purchase, and you will get a free item just for logging in during this period.
In addition, a new arena called the Forbidden Temple Arena will be added, bringing a dash of the East into the frenetic action of Rocket League.
The Lucky Lanterns event starts Monday, January 20 at 1 p.m. ET and ends on February 10 at the same time, while your earned Red Envelopes can be redeemed until February 13.
