Rocket League’s Latest Event Trailer Teases Fans’ Most-Requested Cosmetic – Forbes

Just about a week after the end of Rocket League‘s annual Frosty Fest in-game event, Psyonix released the trailer for their next event, Lucky Lanterns. The event celebrates the Lunar New Year and was announced with a stylish new trailer:

The event seems pretty typical as far as in-game Rocket League events go; players will earn currency, Red Envelopes, to exchange for exclusive themed cosmetics such as wheels or decals. However, players with a keen eye for detail noticed a long-awaited battlecar made an appearance in the trailer: the Titanium White Dominus equipped with items from the upcoming event.

Fans have been asking for a Titanium White version of the ever-popular Dominus battlecar, which has been notably absent since painted variants of cars, rocket boosts, and goal explosions have made their way into the game.

Of these painted variants, the bright, white versions have been the rarest and most sought-after versions of items as they add a dazzling effect to cosmetics and a clean white trim around the bumpers of battlecars. The trailer also made a point to show off how far the painted trim extends under the car, which is a complaint some players have with the painted version of other popular cars, such as the Octane.

The Dominus itself is one of the most popular cars in the game for both casual and professional players, which means that the white painted version will be an immediate hit for its die-hard fans. The painted rear window and spoiler are certainly eye-catching and much flashier than other painted battlecars. It will likely be for purchase in the game’s item shop soon, probably coinciding with the start of the new event on January 20, if not sooner.

The event will also be the debut of a beautiful new arena, Forbidden Temple, and plenty of new Lunar New Year items. Among my favorites are the Paper Dragon topper and the flashy new Fortune wheels, both of which can be seen below.

Players can purchase these items with Red Envelops, which they will automatically earn at the end of online matches. Additionally, players will receive a free player banner just by logging in during the event. Rocket League’s Lunar New Year event, Lucky Lanterns, begins January 20 and will run until February 10.
