Undoubtedly one of the most popular Limited Time Modes to date, Zone Wars is set to make a return for Fortnite Chapter 2.
Towards the tail end of Season X, the Zone Wars LTM was a life saver for many players who were having their worst Fortnite experience ever. Whilst the maps had been available for a while in Creative and Playground, the majority of people were still yet to try this high-octane game mode.
Zone Wars tries to replicate real end-game situations, with moving zones and lots of players stacked together in a compact space. As well as being great practice for competitive Fortnite, the LTM was also really good fun. Rather than landing and spending time looting up and then possibly not seeing anyone all game, you spawn in with a full loadout and head straight into the action.
Unsurprisingly, the Zone Wars playlist was moved just before the beginning of Chapter 2. It had been available for a couple of weeks already which is longer than most LTMs last, but more importantly Epic Games wanted players to spend their time exploring the new Battle Royale island.

However, it now seems like we may have done enough adventuring. Popular Fortnite leaker “Lucas7yoshi” reported that a new playlist image had been added to the game files. Icons for both Zone Wars Solos and Squads have been discovered.
On top of this, another reputable source, “Hypex” has revealed the list of maps that are set to feature. These are currently the same four that were used last time round, but Hypex explains that they may change. If these maps are used, hopefully they are all updated to match the Chapter 2 loot pool.
Maps as of now are: (they might change them)
– Desert created by JotaPeGame
– Downhill River created by Enigma
– Vortex created by Zeroyahero
– Colosseum created by Jesgran— HYPEX – Fortnite Leaks & News (@HYPEX) December 16, 2019
Ali “SypherPK” Hassan was a big fan of the Zone Wars LTM in Season X, and is optimistic that these leaks will prove to be correct. Like many, he enjoyed using the playlist as a way to warm up, before heading into anything serious.
Heard a rumor/leak that Zone Wars playlist is returning to Fortnite, really hoping that’s true and it happens soon. Loved warming up with some Zone War games, also easier to do sub zone wars.

With Season 1 being extended into February, it would make sense that Zone Wars could return soon. We have had a couple of months to test out the new map at this point and it would be a nice change of pace.
