The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off on November 20. While many FIFA fans across the globe are preparing to watch this legendary tournament, the 2022 FIFA World Cup may actually impact Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in a big way. In honor of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 appears to be getting a limited time Rocket League style game mode in the near future.
This new game mode is rumored to be called CODball and will be eerily similar to the video game Rocket League. It is hard to picture this style of game mode in a Call of Duty franchise, but we all know how Call of Duty loves to throw surprises our way.
A dataminer that goes by the Twitter name CODSploitzImgz leagued an image that appeared to show players on ATVs in a football stadium. The goal is just like Rocket Leage in that you must use your vehicle to score the goal in the opposing team’s net. There will be a special map that CODball will be played on, so you don’t have to worry about playing this type of game mode on the current multiplayer maps.
Due to the official Call of Duty blog, we already know that they had plans to add a game mode called CODball, but now we have more insight on what that game mode will actually be about. Also due to the official Call of Duty blog, we knew that Neymar Jr. (November 21), Paul Pogba (November 25), and Leo Messi (November 29) will be making their way into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as operators. These limited time Operator Bundles can be purchased on their respective dates.
As far as any other news regarding this Rocket League style game mode CODball goes, there is not much more information on it. There is no release date that has been confirmed, but maybe CODball will go live when the Neymar Jr. Operator Bundle debuts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 21. If it is not then, then maybe CODball will go live when the 2022 FIFA World Cup begins on November 20. Both of those dates seem to make the most sense, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It will be interesting to see how well a game mode like this will fit into a first-person shooter like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
