Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.
As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.
Today’s Picks
James: Aaron Judge ($6,200) – Zack Greinke has had a decent season, but it is a tale of two stories when we compare his home/road splits. At home, Greinke carries a 1.65 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP, but on the road that jumps to a 7.39 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and a .329 opponent batting average. 10 of the 11 homers Greinke has allowed have been on the road and now he faces a deadly Yankees team. Right-handed hitters have a slight slugging edge here and Aaron Judge in his current form feels as close to a free square that we can possibly get. I am a little cold on my calls right now, so let us see if we can rise up.
Zach: Ryan Mountcastle ($2,900) – Mountcastle has not gone deep since July 3rd for the Orioles and is hitting just .065 since the break but I am calling Mountcastle breaking out of his slump today. The reason I feel this way is due to him facing a left-handed pitcher away from home (in one of the best hitting environments) as Mountcastle has thrived in those situations. This season in road games against left-handed pitching Mountcastle has an OPS of .923, an ISO of .269, and a wOBA of .393.
Jared: Gavin Sheets ($3,100) – Adam Oller has only pitched 32.1 innings in the majors. In those innings, he has allowed nine home runs for an HR/9 rate of 2.51. Hitters from both sides of the plate have had a lot of success against Oller with lefties having the most success slugging .674 against him. With the way Sheets is hitting the ball right now (five hits including a home run in his past three games) to go along with his raw power I would be shocked if Sheets didn’t go deep in this one.
Overall Standings
| James | 25 (22 total home runs) |
| Zach | 37.5 (24 total home runs) |
| Jared | 28.5 (19 total home runs) |
