New York Subliners (NYS) vs. Florida Mutineers (FLA) (3:00 PM EST) (-155 NYS)
Several rosters were shaken up going into this Stage 4 of Qualifiers and FLA will be debuting with the addition of 2ReaL (who is an aggressive submachine gun main) and veteran main rifler MajorManiak. Both of these teams will be making their final push to make Champs’ as well so every game is crucial. The last time these teams faced off FLA swept NYS 3-0 but that was with NYS’ previous roster. Since then, NYS has become one of the best hardpoint teams in the game with a 23-8 record vs FLA’s 18-15 which is NYS’ biggest edge. HyDra and PaulEhx have gotten into the most engagements for NYS in this gametype specifically (HyDra leading with 50.9) which may cause them to contribute the most and help NYS get momentum. Also, the fact FLA lost a player that once had the most engagements out of both teams in Vivid now puts more pressure on their rookie 2ReaL to perform really well. Since NYS has more experience leading up to this point and chemistry, they should be able to set the tone and prevail.
Boston Breach (BOS) vs. OpTic Texas (OTX) (4:30 PM EST) (-525 TX)
Both teams will make changes once again entering this match and BOS made the surprising benching of their rookie Capsidal and replaced him with the most accurate shooting submachine gun main in the league in Vivid. As for OTX, iLLeY tried to make a return but wasn’t ready so OTX had to resort to bringing PROLUTE back who bring similar contributions to the table as iLLeY. Fortunately, for Vivid he’ll now have a chance to play with an actually submachine gun duo which could complement his game depending on how TJHaLy performs. These teams haven’t faced off since the beginning of the season but OTX did dominate 3-1. Hardpoint was the only gametype OTX surrendered so this should be key for starting off the series and for OTX to have a chance despite iLLeY not being in the lineup for OTX. Although this has been BOS’ best gametype, OTX have been one of the best teams in the game in Hardpoints with a 33-19 record compared to BOS’ 19-18 so they may be in some trouble here. BOS also lost one of their most reliable slayers in Capsidal who was the only one of two players with a kill-death ratio above 1 along with the main rifler in Methodz (1.14 K/D). Unfortunately, BOS will have even more pressure on them with Dashy being the most efficient player in the league currently, and having the highest kill-death ratio on OTX in Hardpoints with a 1.22 K/D. Also, every other player in the lineup has kill-death ratios above 1 which may result in all the players performing well again due to Dashy’s anchoring. That being said BOS may have struggles here in this matchup and Methodz may not be able to carry the load alone in the respawn gametypes.
Los Angeles Guerrillas (LAG) vs. Toronto Ultra (TOR) (6:00 PM EST) (-433 TOR)
To conclude the slate the third-place team in the last major in TOR will faceoff with a regressing LAG squad that made a recent roster change adding Neptune and bringing Spart back into the lineup. Despite LAG defeating TOR last time these teams met 3-1, LAG have regressed since then and haven’t won as much games while TOR only got better. Search and destroy was LAG’s only loss to TOR in the previous series and is TOR’s bread and butter but also LAG’s best gametype so this matchup has potential to go down to the wire. The main difference is the chemistry for LAG as SlasheR/Huke try and adapt with their new teammates. TOR have had a 15-5 record in S&D’s while LAG enters with a 15-7 record in the gametype. SlasheR has been the most consistent as the main rifler for LAG with a 1.29 K/D so his performance will be relied on heavily as he tries to lead his squad. Unfortunately, TOR has three players around the same slaying efficiency (Cammy- 1.24, CleanX- 1.28, Insight- 1.27 K/D’s), therefore TOR has a good chance to make a rebound here. Cammy improving has helped TOR make jumps back to their form in-game which could make slaying easier for his teammate CleanX who can thrive in the gametype with the most first bloods (35). TOR should get their revenge here due to their recent improvements and LAG trying to piece things together with their new lineup but there should be no surprise if this match is still close.
