The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – June 12, 2022 (6/12/22) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.

As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.

Today’s Picks

James: Juan Soto ($5,200) – This is a pure gut call and pretty much based on nothing else. The Brewers are playing horrible baseball right now and Jason Alexander takes the hill for them. While Alexander hasn’t been bad in his first two outings, he still carries a WHIP over 1.50. Alexander is a sinkerballer who generates a ton of ground ball outs, but Juan Soto also has the best eye in baseball. Lefties against Alexander are currently hitting .353 and slugging .529. Alexander just doesn’t have anything that wows you with his stuff and his location has been shaky in his two major league starts. I’m looking for Soto to take advantage of a low-velocity arm and capitalize on a mistake here.

Zach: Joey Gallo ($3,800) – Gallo is not having a good year at all as he is only slashing .185/.281/.358. With that said Gallo is starting to show signs of life in the month of June as he is slugging .536 with an ISO of .321 and three home runs in his 30 plate appearances. Today I like Gallo to add to his power numbers this month as he takes on Keegan Thompson who is coming off a game in which he allowed seven runs on five hits with three home runs in just three innings of action against the Orioles.

Jared: Rhys Hoskins ($3,800) – Hoskins is really starting to heat up, but the pricing on DK is yet to catch up. In the last week of action, he has 3 long balls and is slugging .792 with an elite 22.2% barrel rate and 21.3 degree launch angle. That is all good for a .528 wOBA and 243 wRC+ in his last 28 PA. Lefty Kyle Nelson is on the mound for the Diamondbacks here, going up against Hoskins’ superior split (.255 ISO vs LHP with a 135 wRC+ this year). Given his recent form, the softness of the opposing SP and the excellent price point he brings to the table – I’m all in here today. Just in case he happens to sit today for any reason, I’ll pivot to Aaron Judge.

Overall Standings

James 16.0 (14 total home runs)
Zach 15 (10 total home runs)
Jared 20.5 (14 total home runs)
