@kirty Switch bluetooth is audio only, no mic function. This is why bluetooth headset mics won’t work. I’ve heard there are third party bluetooth adapters on the market to address that, but I’ve never seen anyone here say they use one. So, I can’t recommend anything.
Plugging into the headphone jack is how voice chat is supposed to work with the switch. Perhaps a headphone cable extension is a solution? But a regular headphone cable won’t work, because it lacks mic functionality. You’d need a three channel cable (left, right, mic). If you have a set of headphones that came with a smartphone, you’ll be able to see what the proper headphone plug will look like, it has an extra band on it for the mic.
If any of that sounds less than great, it’s becasue Nintnedo purposely omitted voice chat funcitonality as an effort to make their console family. Their logic was intended to protect young kids from voice chat with strangers. So, as a workaround, Fortnite and Rocket League figured out a way to add a voice chat function into the game as an update to solve the issue. So, that’s why voice chat has been a bit of a hassle with the Switch.
