In this article, we four core for FanDuel & DraftKings daily fantasy baseball contests. These players are the ones we are going to have the most exposure to on each of the sites. Let’s jump right into today’s article.
We will stick with the same format that we’ve used recently, focusing on lower-ownership candidates for tournaments (GPPs) in this article. If you are looking for cash game plays, make sure to check out all the other great articles that we post on FantasyCruncher on a daily basis.
Top Pitcher
Daniel Lynch
I want to make it clear that Lynch isn’t our #1 SP on the day. He is, however, a wonderful tournament target from a game theory perspective, given the combo of skills and expected ownership levels on Sunday. Lynch has a really intriguing set of skills heading into this one today, with a 28% K% split / .274 wOBA split coming into play against the lowly Orioles here. Not to mention an elite 39% chase% that shows how well his raw stuff is starting to play up at the MLB level. I’m really intrigued for tournaments on both FanDuel and DraftKings alike, and feel there’s a really good chance that he’ll finish as a top 3-5 overall point-scoring option here.
Stud Hitter
Ronald Acuna Jr.
After missing almost the entire first month of the season, Acuna is quickly rounding into form and enters the Sunday slate as an elite target. He has hits in 5 straight games, but should come at a bit of an ownership advantage here this afternoon against Aaron Ashby. The Braves have a 4.3 run total here in a game projected with 8.0 runs, which should knock them down the list a little. Acuna’s also left the yard in back to back games. While Ashby’s 2.33 ERA on the year looks rock solid, his walk rate and lack of length indicates that we should see 2-3 ABs for Acuna against their middle-relievers, who are not quite as dominant as the back-end of that bullpen (featuring Josh Hader in particular). Fire up one of the game’s best hitters here this afternoon and enjoy the ride.
Value Hitter
Mike Moustakas
Moose hasn’t quite broken out in a major way yet this season, holding a .286 wOBA and .102 ISO on the year to date. However, things are really starting to turn around over his last week of action. I covered that off in good detail when I nominated Moose as my top HR candidate in the Daily Dinger column this afternoon, and this is the kind of matchup we should be salivating to take advantage of (vs Zach Thompson and his 9.39 ERA on the year). For the price, Moustakas is an excellent value target here today.
Top Stack
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brew Crew is easily my favorite group to recommend today for tournament purposes. Charlie Morton throws against them, who has been performing as a shell of his former self to date (6.9 K/9, 5.3 BB/9, 5.18 SIERA through 5 starts). Meanwhile, the Brewers have a mere 3.7 implied team total, which is understated when you unpack the quality of their opposing pitcher. Especially with a MIL team that is hitting the cover off the ball these days. Rowdy Tellez, Willy Adames, Luis Urias, Christian Yelich and Kolten Wong all have wOBAs over .419 in their last week’s worth of games, and 173+ wRC+ marks, too. Morton’s in tough here today and the Brewers are an elite GPP stack.
