In a not-so-shocking turn of events, Proletariat employees are having a hard time getting not just Activision Blizzard, but also the higher-ups at Proletariat itself to acknowledge the creation of a union under the Communication Workers of America. According to a thread shared on Twitter by the CWA, Proletariat management published a post on their blog declining to voluntarily recognize the union and the “supermajority” that signed cards with the CWA. Instead, the company is forcing the union to vote with the NLRB, as it had done with previous QA unionization.
The Twitter thread goes on to discuss Proletariat’s actions over the last week, saying that they’ve “been right out of the union-busting playbook used by Activision and so many others”. The tweets describe a town hall held by Proletariat that was “inappropriate due to its anti-union influence and happened to be the same day that [Zenimax employees] announced their recognition.”
Interestingly, this news also drops following reports of a Microsoft ad in The Washington Post declaring their willingness to acknowledge unions now and in the future. The ad was directed at the FTC and intended to be another way to demonstrate the benefits of allowing the Activision Blizzard purchase to go through.
