Summerdale, PA – Acting Secretary of Education Eric Hagarty today visited Central Penn College to highlight the postsecondary and career-readiness programs available to students across the commonwealth.
“Pennsylvania’s postsecondary institutions prepare learners of all ages to graduate and pursue meaningful, family-sustaining careers in a vast array of fields and industries,” said Hagarty. “The innovative programs being provided in colleges and universities across the commonwealth, like those happening at Central Penn College, are preparing today’s students for the workforce of tomorrow.”
During the visit, Hagarty saw a demonstration of the school’s “E-stim” machine, used to provide electrical stimulation as physical therapy. He also met members of the Rocket League national champion esports team, interacted with students and staff, and learned about the free housing scholarship available to students.
“We are grateful for this opportunity to showcase Central Penn College to Acting Secretary Hagarty, along with the many opportunities we offer in contemporary career education, from free housing scholarships, to in-demand allied health careers, to strong athletic teams, including our national championship Rocket League esports team,” said College President Dr. Linda Fedrizzi-Williams. “Providing career-focused education for 141 years, we are rich in experience, but on the cutting edge of what employers need right now, and what students need to succeed in the jobs of today and tomorrow. We appreciate the role Secretary Hagarty, Rep. Patty Kim, and their fellow state leaders play in inspiring excellence in education.”
Since 2015, the Wolf Administration has increased education funding by more than $3.7 billion. In his most recent budget, Governor Tom Wolf solidified his commitment to education at all levels with a historic $1.8 billion investment increase. This budget prioritizes resources for Pennsylvanians and Pennsylvania families and helps provide kids with the resources they need to be successful.
Central Penn College gives students the educational foundation to turn potential into professional success. Since 1881, the college has been a leading source of career-focused education for students in Pennsylvania and beyond. Strategically located in Summerdale near the seat of state government and major public and private employers, Central Penn College offers associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees and certificate programs in a variety of professional fields.
