Season 4 of Fortnite is coming to an end. Season 5 will, however, turn the page to a new chapter rather than returning to Chapter 3. This will be the third and final season of Chapter 3. Season 8 marked the potentially premature end of Chapter 2; this chapter ended even earlier.
There are numerous possibilities with a new chapter. When the downtime at the end of this chapter ends, expect a vastly different game to be available.
This almost always includes a new or significantly different map. Will this be the year that Epic Games brings back the beloved Chapter 4 map?
Will Epic Games finally restore the old Fortnite map next chapter?
Players hope that the old map will return in some capacity whenever a map change is possible. That becomes less likely as the game progresses.
Epic Games is constantly advancing Fortnite into the future. They aren’t particularly interested in the game’s history, so they abandoned that map and are constantly changing the chapter before it appears to be time.
Epic Games has already brought back the old Fortnite map, in the only way they could.
They’ll never bring back the map with the original Pleasant Park, Lonely Lodge, Haunted Hills, and Polar Peak. What they can do is reintroduce POIs, landmarks, and the general map layout.

That is precisely what they did in Chapter 3. The bottom side of the Chapter 2 map, which was the Chapter 1 map flipped over, was the Chapter 3 map. The current map is, in essence, the old one.
As a result, the volcano, temple, Greasy Grove, Shifty Shafts, race track, and many other POIs or landmarks are almost exactly where they were on the old map.
Epic Games brought back the old map in the only way they could, so expecting the entire old map to return is probably a fool’s errand.
However, there is a strong possibility that they will bring back an old map in the same way for Chapter 4.
The island had been flipped when Fortnite Chapter 3 was released. As a result, what is currently beneath the current island is what was present in Chapter 2.
Nothing will stop Epic Games from repeating the pattern and flipping the island over when Chapter 4 arrives. This would allow them to reintroduce Chapter 2 POIs like Sweaty Sands, Slurpy Swamp, and Craggy Cliffs alongside new POIs.
To answer the question, it’s highly unlikely that the map from Chapter 1 will ever return.
The current map is as close as players will ever get, so enjoy it while it lasts before it’s replaced and potentially all Chapter 1 POIs are removed.
