Esports to crown champions in December – CHSAA Now

With less than a month to go before CHSAA crowns its first esports champions, it has come down to the final details. Ordering awards, finalizing venue details, and sharing pertinent championship game day information with everyone are just a few of the final details the CHSAA staff is working on.

“This is what my job is all about,” said CHSAA Assistant Commissioner Rashaan Davis. “ I love this opportunity to welcome an entirely new demographic of our membership to another CHSAA activities access point. Access to represent their school at the highest level, and an opportunity to engage in this competitive activity, in person, with some of the best players from across the state is one of the many things our association excels at.”

The CHSAA esports championship will be held at Localhost, in Lakewood, on December 2nd. Top teams from across the state will play for the championship in two game titles, League of Legends and Rocket League. The top eight teams from Rocket League and the top four League of Legends teams will be invited to the in-person final. The day begins at 10AM, with the Rocket League quarterfinals. The finals for Rocket League will be played at 2PM. Meanwhile, League of Legends will begin their first semi-final at 3PM, with their championship game beginning at 7PM.

“Watching our students compete in a fun, engaging and rewarding experience like the one Esports provides truly exemplifies what our organization stands for,” shared CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger, “If you have not had the opportunity to watch our kids in these exciting events you are truly missing something special.”
