Team Five’s bats stayed hot on a cool Thursday night.

Moto Miller hit a three-run homer in the 26-20 win over Team Three at field 2 in Brahan Spring Park. This is the fall season in the 55-and-over Rockets league in Huntsville Senior Softball.

Miller, the Team Five catcher/manager, went 4-for-4 with five runs batted in.

“We were hitting good today and the score reflected it against the best pitcher in the league, by the way,” he said.

Kirk Wickizer got the win against the Team Five pitcher, longtime senior star Jim “Hitman” Myers.

Scott Landers was 5-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and five runs for Team Five (7-2). David Koch was 5-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs and four runs. Marty Acosta and Shawn Gordon added four hits apiece. Gary Wilkison, Lori Ciranni and Wickizer added three hits apiece. Landers, the shortstop, started a 6-3 double play in the second.

Larry Guthrie, manager Rick Anthis, Scotty Parks and Randy Keffer had four hits apiece for Team Three (3-5-1). Sam Sepulveda had three hits with a double. Ken Valine, Bill Hartsell, Myers and Mark Van Sickle had two hits apiece. Hartsell, the left fielder, made an outstanding diving catch to end the second with two on and two out.

“They just had darn good hard hits that went through third base and shortstop,” Anthis said. “That was basically it.”
