Goats and Glory, the Navy’s eSports team, plays different games such as League of Legends, Halo: Infinite, Valorant, Call of Duty: Warzone, World of Warships, Rocket League, World of Warcraft, Street Fighters, Counter Strike Global Offensive, and Overwatch. For sailors who love gaming, there are job openings in the Navy available now.
Goats and Glory is presently recruiting new sailors. The Navy utilizes it as one means to get in touch with potential recruits in high schools and colleges. By interacting with potential sailors online and in gaming locations, the Navy Esports Team greatly contributes to the CNRC’s multifaceted outreach strategy.
What Will This Job Encompass?
Those who are selected will have to practice playing, live-stream their games and take part in and set up tournaments.
Aaron Jones, director of the Navy ESports Division explained it by saying, “(A) big part of the esports team is (being the) face of the Navy. There’s a large amount of risk inherent in that that goes in. There’s a lot of training that goes on.” He further added, “So a lot of it is either playing video games, practicing video games, or preparing events in which we get to play or practice video games. It’s not a bad life. And it’s all outreach.”
The Goats and Glory team hosts tournaments for high schools and universities as part of its outreach efforts. The team will play against other military esports teams in scrimmages as well. The post is considered a special duty assignment. It does need a permanent move to Memphis, where the esports team has a facility of its own.
Procedure For Tryouts
- Candidates must concentrate on Halo: Infinite, League of Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Rocket League throughout the tryouts to join the squad.
- Sailors must show their rank in each of the games as part of their application. The esports team will choose 100 applicants from the applications, and they will play in a five-game, three-day tournament.
- A round of interviews will be conducted with thirty players.
- The 30 players will then be ranked and placed by the esports team, who will subsequently work with detailers to choose sailors.
