Preview | LAFC vs DC United 8/16/22 – LAFC

Led by new head coach Wayne Rooney, DC United have struggled to find any type of positive consistency this season as the team owns the league’s worst overall record (6-14-4). Rooney, who took over for former head coach Hernán Losada in July, has only been able to pick up one win in the four games he has managed (1-2-1).

Forward and Designated Player Taxiarchis Fountas has been a bright spot for the club, scoring 11 goals with 17 games played. Forwards Ola Kamara (7) and Michael Estrada (4) account for 22 of the team’s 28 goals scored this season along with Fountas

The Club recently signed forward Christian Benteke from Crystal Palace FC in the English Premier League, but he will be unable to play against LAFC.

DC United will also be without defender Brad Smith (knee surgery) and goalkeeper Bill Hamid (hand).

They continue to utilize all weapons on the field. The Black & Gold had five different goal scorers last Saturday and should continue to move the ball to different ends of the field to have DC United scrambling throughout the game. The LAFC backline will need to keep its eye on Fountas and Kamara and limit any threat the duo might bring to the defensive half.

They can break down the LAFC attack. DC United will need to find a way to cut down space and not lose sight of any of the LAFC forwards. Rooney will most likely roll out a 4-3-3 formation and hope to feed the ball to Fountas and Kamara to create offense.
