Manny Machado (SD) (DK- $12,900, FD- $8,000)

The leading hitter for SD who is a better bargain on FD (price decreased) in Manny Machado should perform well against a pitcher in Tyler Anderson that is creeping up to surrendering triple digits (78) to his handedness (righties). Although Machado has not performed well as of late, his chance to bounce back should be high here especially having a ceiling within the top three on the slate. The ownership is also on the higher end (fifth among hitters) but starting lineups Machado should benefit users in contests.

Mookie Betts (LAD) (DK- $15,600, FD- $9,500)

Despite the price being highest among hitters on this slate, Betts having the highest isolated hitting power is difficult to ignore along with the most homeruns of both teams as well. Also, the price is hefty for Betts as well (most among all hitters) but is one of the safest hitters to select on the slate. The projected ownership is projected to be low (within single digits) and if Betts performs well he should benefit those that select him heavily if the ownership holds.

UTIL/FLEX:

Juan Soto (SD) (DK- $9,800, FD- $8,500)

Soto has regressed slightly since his SD debut value wise, but with an extremely high run value against fastballs (18), which is Tyler Anderson’s most relied on pitch type. Soto should be considered heavily in lineups because of this advantage. Due to the under performances in his recent games this may cause him to get slightly overlooked even if his ownership is on the higher end this slate. The biggest risk is that Anderson surrenders way less hits to lefties compared to righties (18 to 78), but Soto may be worth the risk.

Freddie Freeman (LAD) (DK- $9,600, FD- $9,000)

The price is on the higher end for both sites but with the second highest ceiling on the slate Freeman is capable of exceeding his value. After having a hitless game and lackluster performance this may bode well for those that select him this time due to having almost a double-digit run value (7) against Yu Darvish’s favorite pitch type as of late (cutter). Darvish strikes lefties out more which is the biggest risk for Freeman but that shouldn’t result in completely fading Freeman.

Will Smith (LAD) (DK- $8,200, FD- $7,000)

Smith is coming off two multi-hit games dominating each handedness and has the highest value on the slate (1.2). Therefore, Smith should be one of the most popular choices to start lineups off with. The ownership is also not projected to be high for Smith which should bode well for users that base their lineups around him. In addition, Smith has gotten a homerun off of Darvish the previous faceoff they had which potentially can happen again with Smith’s recent success.
