Manny Machado (SD) (DK- $15,300, FD- $9,000)

With little to no projected ownership and leading the SD players in hits is and homeruns (16) is a player in Manny Machado that should be considered heavily if the low projected ownership holds. The opposing pitcher in Carlos Carrasco surrenders the most hits to right-handed players which bodes well for Machado even more. Although, the price is among the top two highest on the slate Machado should have a good number of exposures in your lineups.

Joe Musgrove (SD) (DK- $15,900)

Due to having the most strikeouts of the two pitchers (51), and more against lefties (57) Musgrove has a chance to perform well here. Despite the ownership being higher of the two pitchers the average fantasy points being higher for Musgrove (21.9 versus 15.9 from Musgrove) is difficult to ignore. Also, Musgrove has had more success against NYM more times than not and surrendered a small number of hits (4) and close to double-digit strikeouts (7) in the last faceoff.

UTIL/FLEX:

Luke Voit (SD) (DK- $7,400, FD- $7,500)

Second leading homerun hitter for SD is coming off a rough performance but has the ceiling (6^th highest) and capability of dominating here. In addition, Voit is another righty that Carrasco may have trouble against hit-wise. Voit has had a price decrease as well and should be considered with projected ownership in the mid-range. Fortunately, in Voit’s last matchup he was able to hit a homerun against Carrasco so there’s potential it may happen here again.

Ha-Seong Kim (SD) (DK- $8,000, FD- $5,000)

Among the top-five hitters for SD (5^th) and with projected ownership on the lower end is Ha-Seong Kim who is one of the most viable options on the slate in his matchup. Kim has the highest run value against the four-seam fastball with a rate of 9. Fortunately, for SD the opposing pitcher in Carrasco relies on this pitch type more than others which bodes well for Kim. Also, Kim is another right-handed hitter than can take advantage of Carrasco’s hit struggles against righties.

Starling Marte (NYM) (DK- $9,600, $7,500)

Despite having the hitting handedness that Musgrove surrenders the least hits to (right), Marte has a chance to perform well due to having the highest run value against the four-seam fastball as well with a rate of 9 this season. On the other hand, Marte hasn’t reached his value in a couple games which may sway people away from him. However, his run value edge may result in him reaching his value this time around, but should be considered cautiously due to only getting one hit off Musgrove in their last faceoff.
