The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – July 22, 2022 (7/22/22) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.

As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.

Today’s Picks

James: Christian Walker ($3,500) – You guys should know by now when Patrick Corbin takes the mound I am picking a right-handed hitter in this article. Today that hitter is Walker who is slugging .587 with a .293 ISO against left-handed pitching this season.

Zach: Rowdy Tellez ($3,900) – Antonio Senzatela has only allowed five home runs in his 13 starts this season but that number feels like it should be much higher to me. The reason I say this is due to the fact that hitters are slugging .518 with an average exit velocity of 90.4 miles an hour off of Senzatela this season. It feels like it really is only a matter of time before Senzatela starts to give up home runs in bunches. While I feel that several Brewers have a chance to go deep tonight due to the previous reasons Tellez is the one I feel strongest about due to his .264 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

Jared: Patrick Wisdom ($4,000) – It may be a bit unconventional choosing a righty against a righty in a situation like this. Especially if it’s not a superstar like a Giancarlo Stanton or Aaron Judge, for example. However, something’s wrong with Kyle Gibson right now, so I want to take advantage on the other end. Over his last 4 starts, he’s barely finding length (less than 5 IP/GS) and is sporting a 4.85 SIERA with a 5.49 ERA and a mere 35.5% ground ball rate. The launch angle has skyrocketed (19.3 degrees) and he’s become far more susceptible to the long ball as a result. Meanwhile, Wisdom has continued to be one of the Cubs’ better power threats this year, and has a solid 11.3% barrel rate and elite 23.6 degree launch angle in his last month of action (103 PA). He’s a boom or bust guy for the most part, but has plenty of power in the split vs RHP, which is where Gibson’s been more likely to give up homers in 2022. It’s a bit off the board, but I like my chances here. As an alt, just in case Wisdom is out of the lineup, my pivot is Ramon Laureano (who I absolutely adore on this slate, to be honest).

Overall Standings

James 24.5 (21 total home runs)
Zach 36.5 (22 total home runs)
Jared 28 (18 total home runs)
