A brand new Fortnite update for Season 3 is on its way with the 21.40 update set to bring about some changes to the battle royale as the fourth of an expected five patches scheduled for this season.

Fortnite Update 21.40 Release Date

As of writing, we have no confirmation for when the 21.40 update will occur but we can make some educated guesses based on the information we already have. Thanks to iFireMonkey, we now know that the Fortnite Weekly Quests for weeks 7-10 are now in the game, which will take us up to Thursday, 11th August 2022. This suggests that the most likely date for the next update will likely be the following week with 21.40 landing on Tuesday, 16th August 2022

Further evidence supporting this date comes from the reported summer break that Epic Games is scheduled to have between Monday, 25th July and Monday, 8th August 2022. A major update is unlikely between these times so seeing the 21.40 update be added to staging servers on Tuesday, 9th August is plausible.

The final evidence we have to back up this date is the reported Dragon Ball crossover that will happen around the time of the next movie’s English release on Friday, August 19th 2022 meaning the update would have to happen before then to ensure all the files are ready to go.

Regardless of what the final date of the Fortnite update is, however, we can expect the update to arrive at the usual time of 1 am PST / 4 am EST / 9 am BST.

Fortnite Update 21.40 Server Downtime.

There will be a period of server downtime between 2-4 hours for Fortnite when the 21.40 Fortnite update is added to the game. During this time, no players will be able to log into Fortnite at all. An additional 30 minutes of downtime before the update begins to ensure no players are in the game while the changes are being made.
