Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.
As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.
Today’s Picks
James: Julio Rodriguez ($6,100) – Spencer Howard gets the start for the Rangers and is sporting a 1.62 WHIP and 7.13 ERA. He has been up and down between the MLB and AAA this year, but is a guy who leans on fastballs around 88.5% of the time. The cutter is his better pitch, but also the one that gets him in the most trouble as it is being slugged at a .821 SLG%. Right-handed bats are also crushing him as they carry a .391 batting average. The Mariners are a hot club right now playing in a great hitting environment in Texas. I don’t care about the salary points in our friendly competition here, I am now just in the hunt to get the most total home runs. Let’s go J-Rod.
Zach: Will Smith ($5,500) – Smith fell a home run short of a cycle last night and is on a torrid stretch. Smith has hits in eight straight games for the Dodgers with three doubles, a triple, and a home run. Smith is slugging .710 with a .258 ISO in those games. Tonight I like Smith to continue his hot streak by going deep as the takes on the left-handed Jose Suarez.
Jared: Trey Mancini ($2,800) – The ironic thing is that I was wrestling with choosing Mancini over Carlos Santana yesterday, and naturally I went the wrong way. Mancini was able to find the seats yesterday, and has an even better matchup today against Ryan Yarbrough. He has a career 116 wRC+ and a .200 ISO against LHP – his stronger split of the two – and Yarbrough is allowing RHBs to slug .521 with a .388 wOBA against him this season. Let’s keep the good times going here, folks!
Overall Standings
| James | 24.5 (21 total home runs) |
| Zach | 36.5 (22 total home runs) |
| Jared | 28 (18 total home runs) |
