The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – July 12, 2022 (7/12/22) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.

As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.

Today’s Picks

James: Jorge Polanco ($4,700) – Jason Alexander is a sinkerball pitcher who really is debatable if he should be in the MLB at all. Alexander is a bit of a journeyman who filled a need for the Brewers when needed. Alexander put up a few good starts, but despite everything still carries a WHIP of 1.72. Once the Brewers got healthy, Alexander was moved to the bullpen which did not work out great and his return to the rotation led to eight hits and six earned over 5.1 innings. Again, this is a guy who will generate a lot of groundballs until he misses his spots. With just 17 strikeouts in 35 innings, he is begging for the ball to get hit into play. Lefties are hitting .349 and slugging near .600 against Alexander.

Zach: Luke Voit ($3,400) – I am going right back to Coors Field tonight as Voit’s salary and match-up make him a perfect pick for this article. Voit is under $4,000 in salary on DraftKings and is facing a left-handed pitcher that has struggled with keeping the ball in the park. This season Austin Gomber has an HR/9 rate of 1.62 with that number jumping to 2.06 at Coors Field. He has struggled the most against right-handed hitters especially at Coors as he is allowing them to slug .667 at Coors this season.

Jared: Vinnie Pasquantino ($2,600) – After a great Monday, it’s crazy that he’s gone down by $100 in salary. Especially against a hittable RHP (Beau Brieske). He’s allowed as many HR as he has starts in 2022 (14) and sports a SIERA just shy of 5.00 on the season (4.86 to be exact). Pasquantino has an immense amount of power, and like I said yesterday, had been getting a ton of bad fortune as the .216 BABIP and .396 xwOBA vs .332 wOBA would indicate. I’m going to continue to ride the hot hitter here in the plus split and hope that the good times continue to roll for the powerful youngster.

Overall Standings

James 23.5 (20 total home runs)
Zach 34.5 (21 total home runs)
Jared 28 (18 total home runs)
