Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.
As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.
Today’s Picks
James: Austin Riley ($5,500) – Austin Riley delivered for us on Saturday going 2-3 and launching a first-inning home run. As mentioned yesterday, Riley is one of the hottest hitters in the league right now with a slugging of .795 over his last ten games and an OPS of 1.283. Paolo Espino has allowed four homers over his last eight innings pitched and has a flyball% of 36%. This is an arm you can definitely elevate against and with as hot as Riley is right now he is as good of a bet as any to go deep again.
Zach: Michael Chavis ($2,500) – Eric Lauer has struggled more than any other SP on the Sunday slate in terms of giving up homers, with a 2.93 HR/9 mark in his last 5 games with a 4.42 SIERA in the process. Chavis, meanwhile, is rocking a .358 wOBA and .247 ISO in the split vs LHP this year, and leads the team with a .847 OPS as well in the split. He’s as good a candidate as any to click here today, and I’m hopeful that he helps me extend my lead.
Jared: Gavin Sheets ($2,800) – He’s been one of the hottest hitters in the lineup for the White Sox over the last week, rocking a .398 wOBA and 165 wRC+, and goes up against Drew Hutshison here who is sporting a 5.80 SIERA in his last 3 starts. Sheets generally hits right in the middle of the order against RHP, getting 2 hits including a homer last night against Garrett Hill (another RHP) for his second multi-hit effort in his last 3 starts, too. For a guy seeing it well, in a beatable matchup, he’s feeling like a strong HR candidate for me today.
