Father’s day brought us some decent tournament offerings on DraftKings with the Relay Throw offering 50K to first with a $222,222 prize pool.
Congrats to 150 maxer “NoKaneNoGame” who got 27 of his lineups over the cash line with his first place lineup clearing the field by 13 fantasy points.
Happy Monday everybody! I hope you all had a relaxing Father’s day weekend. It’s Monday and we are back with our lineup review series, today we will take a look back at Sunday afternoons Relay Throw on DraftKings which featured an 8 game slate. “NoKaneNoGame” and his army of 150 lineups got the job done, with his winning lineup surprisingly not featuring any Blue Jays which put up a slate high 10 runs. It did however feature a 4 man Yankees stack which were right there with the Blue Jays in terms of run output, with 9 runs.
The Yankee bats were relatively highly owned and the lineup got different by stacking the backend of the order 8 and 9 hole hitters, Marwin Gonzalez (3.6% owned, 17 fpts) and Joey Gallo (5.4% owned, 8 fpts). The 4 man was rounded out by Gleyber Torres (23.9% owned, 26 fpts) and Josh Donaldson (11.3% owned, 18 fpts). The Braves 3 man contributed 61 more fantasy points while the lineup was completed by one off Hunter Renfroe batting cleanup for the Brew Crew. Although his ownership was pretty up there pushing 24% he got it done with a 2 run homer, to much joy of the quarter of the field that rostered him.
At Pitcher the lineup got away from the very chalky Chris Bassitt (52.4% owned, 22.05 fpts) as it featured the top 2 scoring pitchers on the slate in Nick Pivetta (9.9% owned, 32.95 fpts) and Sandy Alcantara (27.3% owned, 29.8 fpts.) Pivetta was very key here as he posted the top pitching score across the slate while carrying sub 10% ownership. Overall at pitcher the highest owned pitchers put up usable scores outside of the land mine that was Dane Dunning who managed a -.9 fantasy score with almost a quarter of the field rostering him.
The winning lineup:

“NoKaneNoGame” shipped first yesterday behind his 4-3 Yankees/Braves lineup and the top performer at pitcher in Nick Pivetta!
Salary Used: $49,900 | Pitcher Ownership: 37.2%
Lineup Construction | Place in the Batting Order
4 man: 3-5-8-9
3 man: 2-4-5
1 off: 4
Key Takeaway: It’s nice to see the old 4-3 back atop the Relay Throw. Nailing the one off and getting that correlation throughout the lineup was a major factor in this lineup shipping first yesterday. We also saw again at Pitcher, fading the mega chalk and paying up and pivoting to the sub 10% owned Pivetta really pay off with his slate topping performance.
