How to Win in MLB DFS: Analyzing Winning DraftKings GPP Lineups – June 8, 2022 – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Last night we had a 12 gamer with pitching options galore and 100K up for grabs

Congrats to 150 maxer “drfunkk” who took down first place for 100k last night on DraftKings in the Relay Throw.  Let’s checkout the lineup and what he did to grab first.

Happy hump day everybody!  Last night’s 12 gamer was filled with various pitching and stacking options.  At pitcher, on a slate where ownership is so spread out with 7 arms carrying double digit ownership with one above 30%  it’s not really about identifying who the highest owned guys are and fading them, it’s more about identifying the best plays relative to price point and who has the best potential for ceiling type games.  If you are going to have concentrated ownership on 1-2 arms then there is proven leverage and value in fading them, but alas last night was not that kind of slate.  It’s not necessarily fade the highest owned pitchers regardless of their ownership because the probabilities are vastly different when someone is 20% owned instead of 40+% owned.  At Pitcher “drfunkk” rolled with Jeffrey Springs (18.1% owned, 18.7 fpts) and Justin Verlander (22.6% owned, 36.95 fpts) which proved to fruitful at their salaries and production.

On a 12 game slate with 24 teams to choose from this is where “drfunkk” got different with his winning lineup, as this one that took down first featured only one player carrying double digit ownership as his 4 man orioles stack carried a cumulative ownership of just 12.5%.  He paired his Orioles stack with an Astros 2 man of Yordan Alvarez (8.8% owned, 20 fpts and Jermy Pena (3.3% owned, 13 fantasy points) rounded out with a couple one offs with Cubs leadoff man Christopher Morel putting up the high score from the bats portion of the lineup at 24 points.

The winning lineup:

“drfunkk” got super contrarian with his 4 man Orioles stack to help ship first.

Salary Used: $49,900 | Pitcher Ownership: 40.7%

Lineup Construction | Place in the Batting Order

4 man: 1-2-4-8

2 man: 4-7

1 offs: 1-8

Key Takeaway: When pitching ownership is so spread out on a slate, it is ok to opt for chalk pitching especially when your highest owned batter is 10% owned.  Opting for lower owned stacks allows you to get as chalky as you wish at the Pitcher position, although I wouldn’t recommend it when we have a slate with concentrated pitching ownership.  When your 4 man stack has a cumulative ownership total of less than 13 you have freedom to fill your lineup out with looking for ceiling while not really focusing in on ownership.
