The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – May 29, 2022 (5/29/22) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning MLB DFS lineups along the way.

As always, FantasyCruncher has several daily articles from pitching to stacking, to home run picks, to general cheat sheets to help you build your daily lineups. And the best news, it is all free! This year for 2022, we are changing up the scoring for the home run calls to be weighted based on the player’s salary. If one of our writers chooses a player with a salary over $5,000 it will be worth 0.5 points. Between $4-$4.9k is 1 point, $3-$3.9k is 2 points, and anyone $2.9k or below is worth 3 points. In terms of salary, we are going off of DraftKings salary for this article. Again, the scoring system is just a fun and friendly competition between our MLB content writers.

Today’s Picks

James: Trevor Story ($5,700) – Bruce Zimmerman has allowed eight homers on the year and seven of them to right-handed hitters. He also allowed four in his last start on the road and struggles on the road letting hitters bat near .60 points higher than in Baltimore. Zimmerman will have to face the Red Sox in Fenway on Sunday and they also come in as one of the hotter teams with some big right-handed power hitters. Trevor Story is still on-fire with seven homers over his last ten games and gets a nice matchup here.

Zach: Josh Naylor ($3,200) – Elvin Rodriguez has not had a great start to his career allowing eight runs on seven hits including two home runs in his 7.2 innings. Rodriguez has especially struggled against left-handed hitting allowing them to slash .300/.417/.600 with a .440 wOBA in his 12 total left-handers faced. While I understand that those numbers are small sample sizes until Rodriguez proves otherwise I am going to be picking on him with left-handed hitters. Naylor is my favorite of Cleveland’s lefties as he has been excellent this season against right-handed pitching with an OPS of .982, an ISO of .284, and a wOBA of .421.

Jared: Charlie Blackmon ($4,900) – Josiah Gray continues to be abysmal against major league hitters, but particularly when it comes to LHBs who boast a .438 wOBA and .633 SLG against him in 2022 thus far. In his last 5 starts, he’s coughed up 9 HR (good for a 3.08 HR/9 mark) and checks in as an extreme fly ball pitcher (55.1% FB%) with an immensely high 15.4% barrel rate. Frankly, I’m not sure how much longer the Nats are going to be able to stand by him, despite the strong prospect pedigree. While Blackmon isn’t quite the power threat he once was, he is second on the team in HRs against RHP this year behind C.J. Cron with 6, and I have a feeling we’ll catch lightning in a bottle in this fantastic matchup here today.

Overall Standings

James 13.5 (11 total home runs)
Zach 12 (8 total home runs)
Jared 16.5 (10 total home runs)
