Incredibly Detailed Dragon Made in Minecraft Looks Almost Like a Painting – GameRant

To many, Minecraft is more than just an open-world game in which players survive each night, dig for diamonds, and build shelters for protection. Some fans see the world as a giant canvas in which to play and create. As a video game with near infinite replay value, there are endless possibilities for players to come along and use the sprawling landscape and roster of tools to build some incredible structures. Sometimes those structures are so impressive that they don’t look like they were made using 1×1 blocks.

In a recent post on the Minecraft subreddit, user Roman_95 uploaded a number of images showing a highly detailed and gigantic dragon towering over a mountainous region. While at a quick glance it appears to be a render of some sort or maybe even a painting, it quickly dawns on the viewer that what they’re actually seeing is something built within the low-res blocky game. The attention to detail is nothing short of incredible, with other users expressing their utter amazement about what Roman_95 created.

While Minecraft has its own Ender Dragon that players can do battle with, it pales in comparison to the sheer size of Roman_95’s own winged beast. It took the user two months to complete and, while they did use MCEdit, a tool used to edit saved worlds, the end result is still magnificent. A few additional images show the dragon from different angles, emphasizing the scale of it as well as the level of detail that’s gone into adding blended colors to its skin. One user even jokingly said they had to check which subreddit they were on, as it didn’t look immediately like a Minecraft construction.

It seems that many players are keen to create giant builds in Minecraft, making everything from entire cities to Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule kingdom and even a recreation of Cyberpunk 2077. What Roman_95 has created is another example of this, but it’s the detail and skill that’s gone into this that makes it a work of art.

With more than 200 million units sold, Mojang’s sandbox title is one of the highest grossing video games of the last decade, if not of all time. Even after more than ten years, the game still pulls in many creative and talented people. And with users continuing to showcase their incredible projects, it seems clear that there is still so much left in Minecraft to see and do.

Minecraft is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
