Core Plays
Justin Allgaier – $10,600 – Starting 14th
The Xfinity Series lands at Richmond this week for some short-track racing on the 0.75-mile track. We had qualifying early this morning, so our race kicks off in a little under two hours. Justin Allgaier is a name who has had a ton of success here and one who has shown a lot of recent success on tracks less than 1-mile. Allgaier sports five straight top-five finishes at Richmond, including back-to-back wins in 2020. Over his last five races here, Allgaier has led 78 or more laps in three of them and he grades out as the best driver here over the last three years in this field.
Brandon Brown – $6,900 – Starting 26th
While short-track racing isn’t always going to give us the best opportunities for passing, Brandon Brown starting 26th opens up a pretty high floor and ceiling here as long as we avoid any issues with the car or uncontrollable accidents. Brown has finished with 21 or more fantasy points in five of his six races on the year with an average finish of 17th. Brown has finished inside the top-20 in five of his last six races at Richmond. That opens up a lot of room for differential here at a sub $7,000 price tag.
