Slate Notes

  • Rogue was defeated yet again, this time by SK Gaming in another upset. The Rogue momentum looks very poor right now after being unbeatable to start the year. This is a team still locked into a likely top-three seed, but the one-seed is at risk here. Rogue gets Team BDS on Saturday which is again, a game they should easily win, but they have shown nothing is easy for them right now. Rogue won easily when these two first met.
  • Mad Lions is one of the most expensive teams on this slate and while they upset Vitality on Friday, they have lost six of their last seven. Astralis is bad with just a 19% win percentage, but this is a winnable match and we can get Astralis at a basement price. With absolutely nothing to play for from either side, maybe we get a chaos match.
  • Fnatic vs Misfits and Vitality vs G2 are great games that will factor for seeding and likely some playoff previews here. Fnatic took down Misfits in just 23 minutes when they first met, though that was way back in week 2. Team Vitality’s “super team” has been one of the most disappointing things this split and though they are making playoffs, their play has been wildly inconsistent. While the same can be said for G2, this match is essentially a coin-flip though I lean G2 after Friday’s games.

Closing note here that is more of just a rant – one-game series are high variance and our 3/4 picks did not do so hot. These days happen but I also own them when they do. But again, so many of these matchups are decided in draft that without a series teams have no time to adjust to changes like we see in the LPL/LCK. Most certainly is what it is, just need to keep in mind no matter who we “like” on a slate, variance is always going to keep us in check.
